Getting Started With Marty: Access, Review, and Next Steps

Getting started means establishing the baseline for a managed profit-control routine: what needs attention, who owns the next step, and how follow-through will be checked. It should not begin with a promise that every system will be connected by a fixed day.

Marty's starting offer is a paid Cash Recovery Plan. Its delivery clock starts after required access is complete, not when you first inquire. Here is a practical way to plan around that distinction.

First, agree on the questions

List the locations included and the issues you want to understand. Keep the list specific enough to investigate: unmatched deposits, changing labor spending, or invoice prices that do not match expectations.

Confirm scope and the flat fee before work starts. Identify the people who control the records and the people who can act on findings. An owner may authorize the work while a finance lead supplies records and a location manager explains an operating exception.

Next, complete required access

Read-only access means Marty can review the agreed records without replacing your POS or changing how transactions are entered. Availability still depends on the systems, permissions, and historical records in your operation. The report evidence fields help your data owner specify the source, period, and missing information before marking access complete.

Use an access checklist with a named owner for each missing item. Distinguish “requested” from “available and usable.” An incomplete date range or an export without location identifiers may leave a question unanswered even when a file has arrived.

The Review is delivered seven business days after required access is complete. A slow access handoff can move that date; it does not justify guessing at the missing data.

Then, review the diagnosis

The deliverable is a set of findings ranked by dollars and location, evidence behind each issue, an owner and recommended action, and a 30-day plan walked through live with your leadership team. That plan is a deliverable, not a claim that every improvement is completed within the first month.

For each finding, ask:

Keep identified opportunities separate from verified recoveries. An unmatched deposit is a question to reconcile; an amount actually located or recovered requires further evidence.

Decide what should happen after the Review

Some findings may lead to a process change your team can own. Others may become recurring checks. Optional Managed Profit Control monitors the agreed controls, follows up on actions, escalates missed work, and verifies results. Its scope follows the baseline and available data. Use the manager action-log fields when assigning the plan to your own team or agreeing the continuation scope.

What is guaranteed?

If the Review does not identify a quantified, source-backed cash or profit issue with a location, recommended action, and owner, Marty refunds the Review fee. This is not a monthly-fee multiple or a guaranteed savings amount.

The useful milestone is a source-backed diagnosis and a clear plan. Begin there before deciding what needs to run continuously.

Plan milestones around dependencies

Use this planning worksheet rather than assuming everything fits a calendar month. Agree names and dates during scoping.

Milestone Responsible party Dependency Completion evidence
Scope and fee agreed Customer sponsor and Marty Locations and questions identified Written scope and fee
Required access complete Customer data owners; Marty checks usability Permissions, date ranges, location identifiers Required records available and usable
Review delivered Marty Required access complete Findings, evidence, owners, actions, and 30-day plan; seven business days after access
Leadership discussion Marty and customer leadership Review available; meeting arranged Decisions and action owners recorded
Continuation decision Customer sponsor and Marty Baseline and priorities understood Agreed Managed Profit Control scope, or customer-owned plan

A file transfer alone does not close the access milestone. Record a missing period, rejected permission, or unusable identifier against its owner before confirming the delivery date.

From baseline to a repeatable routine

Marty is a managed profit-control layer for multi-unit restaurants.

Find → Assign → Follow up → Verify. Find the changes against the baseline established in the Review. Assign each issue to a responsible manager. Follow up and escalate missed actions. Verify whether the next relevant period or reconciliation supports an improvement, keeping unresolved results visible.

Optional Managed Profit Control adds monitoring, alerts, follow-up, escalation, and verification for the controls selected from that first diagnosis.
